I titled my blog post “Can Social Media Marketing Help Grow Your Health & Wellness Business” because I have been into Health & Wellness for the past six years and into Social Media Marketing for the past year and half and really love both areas. For the past six years I have been looking for a company to associate my name with but have not found one that had, what I like to call, “The Total Package” until recently this year. Of course I did my due diligence by checking out the company inside and out for nearly a month and liked what I saw so much I joined the company. I knew if I was going to associate my name with a company it better have all the attributes that was needed to be respected in the Health & Wellness Community and as of today my expectations have all been met and then some.
If you have a Brick and Mortar/Offline or Online Business I am sure you have asked yourself, Can Social Media Marketing Help Expand Your Business? For the past numerous years Social Media has been the buzz word. I am always asked, Do you Tweet? Do you have a Facebook or Youtube account? My answer is aways definitely yes but it has always not been the case. Just look at the title of my Blog Site “Social Media Marketing and Content Syndication” or my 1,000 plus blog posts, you will see I am into Social Media Marketing, Blogging and all the various Social Media Sites. I have been into Facebook, Twitter and all the other 1,000 Social Media sites for about a year and a half now but have been using Social Media Marketing in my Flower Business for 12 years and I can tell you with 100% certainty, that Social Media Marketing works. When I say I was using Social Media Marketing for the past 12 years I mean when I first started my business and delivered some flowers to the Westin Hotel or any hotel for that matter I made it a fact to seek out the Event Planner/Planners for the hotel and introduced myself and gave them my business cards. I also did this for the private country clubs, churches, catering companies, pastry chefs, independent wedding/event planners and anyone else that I thought of could use my floral services. Of course when I gave them my business cards I also asked them for theirs. I told them I have no problem recommending their hotel country club, etc. even if I am not doing the flowers for a specific event because I know you do a great job and have never heard complaints about you. When I said this statement most people where taken back because they were used to getting referrals only from people they recommended. Since I was just starting out I wanted to just set up a relationship no matter what. Low and behold I started getting referrals from the hotels, caterers, etc. and it has never stopped. Matter of fact by doing this type of Social Media Marketing I have never advertised in the yellow Pages, newspaper, Craig s List, etc. My business is strictly built on Word Of Mouth Advertising, which is like money in the bank. When I started doing this type of marketing 12 years ago it was not called Social Media Marketing, I’m not even sure that the term was around then. I didn’t have a name for it or even think about it. I just knew to get someones business I better get in front of them no matter what or I not make it in the flower business.
Getting back to “Can Social Media Marketing Help Grow Your Health & Wellness Business?” You bet it can. I mentioned above that I became associated with a Health & Wellness company this past May. Since I have been involved with them I have primarily used Social Media Marketing to expand my member and customer base. Of course I use numerous other Marketing Approaches like safe Lists, Pay Per Click, Splash Pages, etc. but I feel that the Social Media Sites and My Blog Site are the best avenues to use because they are more personal and the best way to set up a nice relationship. When you are dealing with a persons health & wellness or families well being, it is very serious and you better feel that it is. To me a person needs to feel like they know and trust you when they are going to purchase heath products from your company or work with you as a business partner. Setting up a relationship with that special person/persons is the key to success in your Offline or Online Business, look what it did for my Flower Business and it is stronger than ever. Matter of fact I am doing the exact same thing I was doing 12 years ago. Yesterday I gave some of my business cards to the event planner at the Westin while I was setting up for a wedding ceremony on their pool deck. When I handed her my cards she said “I was going to ask you for some more cards because I passed out all the ones you gave me”. It’s interesting because I was leaving my house to go to the Westin and ran back to get some cards with the sole purpose to give them to the event planner. The really cool thing now is I can say I use Social Media Marketing to grow my flower business as well as my Health & Wellness Business. It is such a catchy hi-tech phrase but in reality it is the same exact thing I and other people have been doing for ever but never knew it but had the same exact results.
